COVID-19 Update  - Vaccination Plan - 2021

The Practice has, since 19th December 2020, taken part in weekly COVID vaccination clinics - some of these are held at Winyates Health Centre as part of our PCN (Primary Care Network) Hub working arrangements and are dependent on the delivery and receipt of Pfizer Vaccines and some clinics can be held at Hollywood Medical Practice again dependent on the delivery and receipt of Astra Zeneca (Oxford) vaccines.

Unfortunately, the Practice only receives information on a week by week basis as to the amount of vaccines allocated to it and which vaccines we are able to utilise.

We are therefore working through our patient lists and allocating vaccines to patients based on the current guidelines - to date we have administered over 3000 vaccines - we continue to work weekends and extended hours in order to accommodate clinics and get as many patients vaccinated as we are able in accordance with what stock we are given.

We would like to thank all those patients who have been extremely understanding in the quick turnaround times that we have been working to as it has and is extremely difficult for the administrative staff to deal with all the queries and calls relating to COVID vaccinations in conjunction with all our emergency day to day work.

As soon as the practice has further information relating to the administering of second doses we will of course implement a further recall system.

Surgery Operating Plan - June 2021

We are extremely busy at this time and we would ask patients to bear with us when contacting the surgery - if it is a non-urgent matter then if possible please email the surgery - we thank you for your co-operation

We need to protect both patients and staff in order that we can continue to practice safely - the Surgery will be open to those patients who have been advised to attend the surgery by a Doctor or Nurse. Patients who do attend the Practice will be expected to wear face masks/coverings and attend alone.

The vast majority of appointment requests must be made by phone, we have reopened the online booking facility for a small number of routine telephone appointment slots with each of the GPs - the Reception team will however be able to book an appointment for you if there are no online appointments available - your call will be triaged and a member of the clinical team will call you and decide whether you need to attend the surgery and be seen face to face or whether your query can be dealt with over the telephone.

With the help of NHS Digital we are utilising Video Consultations and Chain SMS - this enables remote consultations rather than face to face - we may on occasion request that you send emails with attachments - if you are requested to do this please send the minimum amount of patient identifiable data as possible - we cannot guarantee the security of your email whilst in transit.  Once received the information will be stored safely in your medical records and deleted from the email inbox.

Repeat prescriptions and other correspondence can be posted in the post box outside the building.  However we prefer requests by email :

All paperwork will be posted to you unless you have been requested to attend in person and all prescriptions will be sent to Hollywood Pharmacy for collection

It is normal during these uncertain and unusual times to feel anxious or feel low. You can go to Every Mind Matters ( and GOV.UK for advice and tailored, practical steps that you can take to support your wellbeing. If you are still struggling to cope we would urge you to speak to a GP

Astra Zeneca batches made in India - July 2021

The Press is reporting that some Astra Zeneca COVID vaccine batches manufactured in India may not be recognised for travel by EU member states.

Currently we are awaiting further information about this. At this point in time we will not be revaccinating patients or contacting you about this until we are given clear governmental instructions to do so. Please do not call us as we have no further information or guidance to offer at this time.

Please rest assured that this batch of vaccine is just as effective in protecting you against the virus as all the others.

The Government has confirmed that no Covishield vaccines have been administered in the UK and that all AstraZeneca vaccines given in the UK appear on the NHS COVID Pass as Vaxzevria. The NHS COVID Pass is the digital version of individuals’ proof of COVID-19 vaccine status, which has been available for international travel since May. The European Medicines Agency has authorised this vaccine and the Government is confident that travel will not be affected. The EU Digital Covid-19 Certificate is currently for EU citizens only, or third country nationals legally staying or resident in the EU.
